The trustees of many family foundations make their grant decisions on a collective basis, but regard compliance with formalities of holding and documenting board meetings to be a burden. They do not undertake their responsibilities in accordance with formalities required under the foundation’s charter or by-laws or under applicable law.

We assist family foundations in their move to become more professional and to come into compliance with their obligations. In doing so, we prepare notices of and agendas for board and committee meetings, attend these meetings, provide the trustees with experienced support as issues are raised, and prepare minutes of the meetings. We ensure that financial reports, information regarding prospective grants and other materials are compiled for the trustees’ use at board meetings.
